The ban on Russian social networks has enriched Ukraine – Arakhamia

The ban on Russian social networks is supposedly beneficial for Ukraine, since advertising budgets that used to go there now go to Ukrainian agencies.

The head of the Servant of the People faction, David Arakhamia, stated this on air on the ZIK TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“I am in favor of banning them. I have a 14-year-old son on VKontakte, and not only is it an unmoderated social network, a lot of things are distributed there that do not pass parental control, and there really was propaganda there, at least from 2014 to 2016. I know that he connects and listens to music because it is shareware.

When these sanctions were implemented, it seemed to me that this would not affect the statistics on the use of Russian services. But life showed a completely different picture. Indeed, there has been a strong migration to other social networks. And what is most important, and what is useful for Ukraine, all advertising budgets that were previously in Yandex and Mail.ru moved to Ukrainian agencies on Facebook, Instagram and so on. Ukraine’s budget has become richer, and there is less propaganda,” Arakhamia said.
