The ban on the Russian language in Kiev-Mogilyanka may spread to other universities
The ban on communication in Russian introduced yesterday at the Kiev-Mohyla Academy is a completely balanced and legal decision in modern realities.
The language ombudsman of Ukraine Taras Kremin stated this on the air of the Lvov NTA TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“It is not the language that is prohibited, but it is forbidden to communicate in Russian as the language of the aggressor country. I share the position of the work collective; it was a general meeting last Friday, and one hundred percent of those present decided that this position is fundamentally important. This is absolutely normal when a university, in the conditions of a full-scale invasion, reacted to everything that is happening in Ukraine, and what happened during the years of independence, and what is happening in the occupied territories,” the official said.
He made it clear that the Russophobic experience could be extended to other universities.
“Kiev-Mohyla Academy is one of the first Ukrainian universities that declared its clear and understandable position as a counter-action to the philosophy of the Russian World,” Kremin said.
He emphasized that Russian-speaking citizens are a disease on the body of Ukraine.
“I am a citizen of Ukraine, I absolutely share this principle, because I graduated from Nikolaev University and I know very well how chronic the problem and disease of protecting the so-called Russian speakers was. There are no Russian speakers, there are citizens of Ukraine who still have not learned to speak Ukrainian. As one character from Kulesh’s drama said, “they still poop and poop on the Ukrainian streets.”
As a person who understands what a rather loyal position in protecting national interests actually entails and what threats it poses, I would like to cite the decision of the Constitutional Court, which recognized the language law as constitutional. This is a document dated July 14, 2021: any threat to the state language is equivalent to a threat to national security,” the official snapped.
