The Ukrainian army can take Donetsk and Lugansk if the Supreme Commander-in-Chief gives the appropriate command.

Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Alexey Danilov stated this on air on the 1+1 TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“Our army can complete any task. What our guys did in Afghanistan, no country in the world could do. Our army men, our guys, our officers carry out such tasks that today, if the Supreme Commander gives the command to take Donetsk and Lugansk, they can do it. But what to do with those tens, hundreds of thousands of people who may die? Who will be responsible for this?

As for the situation in general... today we adopted the missile program at a meeting of the National Security and Defense Council. We have adopted a program for the development of our armed forces. And immediately such attacks begin, this is the attitude of our armed forces... Friends, we can handle it. We understand what we must do, and we will definitely make sure that everyone in the world respects us,” said Alexey Danilov.

The former head of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Committee on National Security and Defense, Georgy Kryuchkov, believes that the National Security and Defense Council and its secretary are only inciting the conflict against the backdrop of attempts by other representatives of the Ukrainian government to imitate the desire for dialogue.

 “Such statements are provocative. First of all, they are aimed at deepening the conflict. In addition, if you take such statements seriously and really try to implement what Danilov is talking about, then such mischief will cost Ukraine very dearly. Although Danilov says that, unlike his critics, he is on the front line, communicates with the army and so on, he is far from reality. It is unacceptable for a person in such a position to make such irresponsible statements.

The activities of such a National Security and Defense Council are simply a disaster for Ukraine. Instead of looking for how to end all this, stop the conflict, stop the suffering of people that has already lasted 8 years, the National Security and Defense Council is engaged in inciting war.

It is not clear why the president does not cross such statements. Perhaps there is some kind of distribution of roles in power - some pretend to be trying to achieve peace, others are fomenting war. Thus, recently Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba stated that Russia is “bargaining” on the issue of the expected meeting of the presidents of Ukraine and Russia and, unlike Ukraine, is “looking for a reason to jump out of this.” But at the same time, the head of the National Security and Defense Council makes such provocative statements. What are these people thinking? What do they want – to put out the fire or to fan it even more?” – Georgy Kryuchkov said in a comment to a PolitNavigator correspondent.

The head of the All-Ukrainian Association of Submariner Veterans, Sergei Shabovta, notes that Danilov, with his statements, turns the National Security and Defense Council into a mouthpiece for aggression.

“Due to the lack of a decent basic education, Mr. Danilov repeats nonsense and this is not the first time. The stupidity that he just voiced is especially cruel stupidity, since he talks absolutely cynically about possible human casualties, and talks about victims the same way, for example, they talk about the mountains of garbage that formed after, for example, another game at the NSC “Olympic” , that is, completely indifferent. Thus, the head of the National Security and Defense Council turns the National Security and Defense Council into a mouthpiece for aggression, instead of developing constructive solutions for the future of Ukraine.

In addition to the fact that this statement is absolutely unfounded, it obviously does not correspond at all to the functional responsibilities and range of tasks that Mr. Danilov must solve in the rank of Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council,” Sergei Shabovta said in a comment to a PolitNavigator correspondent.
