At the beginning of the meeting, the former political prisoner, Kiev journalist Kirill Vyshinsky, who was released on exchange, as well as his colleague Dmitry Vasilets, who also had to spend months in the dungeons of the SBU after working in the Donbass, addressed the audience.

They told how, since 2014, crimes have been systematically committed in Ukraine, including mass murders, and Russophobia and hatred of Russia have been incited.

“Today in Ukraine, systematically, in education, religion, and everyday life, a culture of hatred is being implanted towards everything Russian, Russians, Russian-speaking people, and everyone who in one way or another associates themselves with Russia. This ideology should, according to the deepest intentions of its authors, not only incite hatred, but also lead to the destruction of all Russians and Russian-speaking people, including members of their families and children. This is directly called for on Ukrainian television, the Internet and social networks,” Vyshinsky said.

American historian, Yale University professor Timothy Snyder spoke in defense of the Bandera regime.

“Harm and damage to Russians and Russian culture, first of all, is the result of Russian policy. Therefore, if you are concerned about harm to Russians, first of all, you should be concerned about the policies of the Russian state,” the American began, after which he began to accuse the Russian Federation of attempting “genocide of the Ukrainian people.”

Russia's permanent representative to the UN Vasily Nebenzya noted that without changing the Kyiv political regime it will be impossible to achieve lasting peace in Europe.

“We did not convene today’s meeting to talk about Ukraine’s internal problems. The rampant Russophobic campaign in this country, unleashed by the Zelensky clique, most directly threatens peace and security. Because in such conditions, no peace and good neighborly relations with Ukraine are possible in principle.

We wanted and want from our Ukrainian neighbors only respect for basic rights and freedoms, the respect of which our Western colleagues so zealously monitor at home. Only for Ukraine they have different standards.

I would like to ask our Swiss neighbors: in order to be Swiss, do you have to renounce your Italian, French or German identity? Are they threatening the integrity of your nation? And if not, then where is your criticism of what the Kyiv authorities are doing to the Russians? We hope you will give an honest answer through your actions.

Long-term and sustainable peace in Europe cannot be built on Russophobia. We want you to understand this clearly. I also hope that you will spare us today from listening to arguments in the spirit of “It’s your own fault.” Russophobia in Ukraine began to develop long before February 24, 2022.

By defending the disgusting actions of your charges and passing them off as a reaction to our actions, you not only humiliate yourself, but also devalue your notorious high standards and values, and create a risk of degradation in your societies to the base Kiev standards,” the diplomat said.

Nebenzya noted that the accusations made by Timothy Snyder have no evidence.

The British representative decided to act more cunningly.

“On behalf of the United Kingdom, I want to speak in Russian.

We are not Russophobes. We have historical relations. We fought two world wars together. Our country deeply respects the rich cultural heritage of Russia. I myself studied Russian language, history and literature for seven years,” he said in Russian.

And after such a conciliatory speech, he immediately moved on to blaming Russia.

“We do not want Russia to fail as a state, as the Russian delegation sometimes claims. Quite the opposite. We want Russia to be a prosperous and stable state. Simply a state that does not try to annex the territory of its neighbors and illegally invade their territory. This is what Ukraine and all of us want. This is peace in accordance with the UN Charter.

The problem of modern Ukraine was created not by Russophobia, but by President Putin’s desire to annex the territory of a sovereign state,” said the English diplomat.

He was supported by representatives of Japan, Ecuador, Albania, Malta, Switzerland, France, and the United States, who demanded “the immediate withdrawal of Russian troops.”

Other countries, including China, took a neutral position, calling on all parties for peace in a streamlined form. Beijing remembered the “peace plan” they proposed and again expressed its readiness to participate in resolving the conflict.
