The defense of the leader of the “Russian Bloc” was successful
The defense of the leader of the Russian Bloc, Gennady Basov, who has been behind bars for about three years, stated that after two years of bureaucratic red tape, she managed to obtain the registration of a statement of crime - provocation of a bribe illegally carried out by the security forces in order to obtain a pretext for the arrest of the politician.
This is stated in a statement by the politician’s defender Pavel Volkov.
“Only more than two years later, and only after numerous appeals to the court, was it possible to register a criminal complaint against law enforcement officers who tried to induce a bribe and fabricate a criminal case against the leader of the Russian Bloc, G.A. Basov.

Basov's charges of corruption crimes fell apart. Basov’s sentence was completely overturned by a higher court, since it was established that he had not committed any crimes against the interests of the public service,” notes Volkov.
He expressed hope that “many years of fuss around Basov’s criminal case” will end and the politician will be acquitted.
Let us remind you that Basov has been behind bars for about three years. He was initially arrested on charges of extorting a bribe. Subsequently, the court commuted Basov’s sentence, reclassifying the case from corruption to attempted fraud.
The politician’s associates believe that he became a victim of provocation after he tried to eliminate the “black” schemes formed in Ukrainian times in the funeral services market of Sevastopol.
The defense is seeking a complete acquittal of the politician and the overturning of the sentence, which Basov’s associates call “imposed on a falsified charge.”
