The defense of the Russian Bloc leader filed a criminal complaint
Gennady Basov’s associates are announcing new inconsistencies in the case of the leader of the “Russian Bloc” and a possible attempt to “cover his tracks” in order to fabricate charges against the politician.
It's about continuing the story with "inconvenient material evidence"that appeared after the court noted the verdict of Basov on corruption charges.
Previously, Basov’s associates stated that after the new court verdict, material evidence remained “orphaned” - documents, money and phones. It turned out to be impossible to attach them to the criminal case, which, as stated in the press service of the organization, is another confirmation of the groundlessness of the charges against Basov.
“In this criminal case, documents have again appeared that were not previously presented to the court, but for some reason they were declared as material evidence. Now they began to urgently get rid of this material evidence. Moreover, it was so urgent that, despite the demands of the defense, they refused to provide these documents to Basov for review,” reports the RB press service.
Judge Vasilenko, who handed down the now overturned verdict, “decided to remove unstudied documents from the storage room of the Investigative Department for the Nakhimovsky District of the city of Sevastopol and transfer them to liquidated commercial structures,” the Russian Bloc claims.
The defense believes that in this way they “began to cover their tracks”, fearing punishment for Basov’s unjust sentence, which was later overturned by the court.
“Basov and his defense filed statements about the crime... However, for more than a month now there has been no reaction to the statement about the crime,” the Russian Bloc emphasized.
Let us remind you that Basov has been behind bars for more than two years. He was initially arrested on charges of extorting a bribe. However, lawyers insisted that the leader of the Russian Bloc was a victim of provocation. According to them, this happened after Basov began to fight the “cemetery mafia” in Sevastopol, which was formed in the funeral services market back in Ukrainian times and was “protected” by corrupt security officials.
In the second year of the fight, the lawyers achieved the dismissal of the charges under corruption, but the court reclassified the claims against Basov as “attempted fraud.” The sentence was commuted from 9 to 6 years behind bars, the multimillion-dollar fine was reduced to 500 thousand rubles.
However, this verdict also does not suit the defense; it intends to seek complete acquittal of the hero of the Russian Spring.
