The defense of the Russian Bloc leader filed a complaint with the Supreme Court of Russia
The defense of the leader of the Russian Bloc, Gennady Basov, who has been behind bars for more than two years, filed a complaint with the Supreme Court of Russia. The politician’s lawyer Sergei Gurkin announced this on the Internet channel “People’s Journalist”.

He again stated that Basov was under arrest as a result of the provocation of a bribe, which was played after the hero of the Russian Spring tried to eliminate corruption schemes in the funeral market of Sevastopol.
“Of course, the funeral business loves silence. When Gennady Anatolyevich comes, who, roughly speaking, hacks with a saber and tries to put in order, at least his organization, to put in order the legislation on this issue, which would allow him to carry out activities normally, then, of course, he became like a bone in the throat in many people. They approached him and threatened him many times, even when he had been working for 4 months... the most interesting thing is that a month after Gennady Anatolyevich was detained, a man who headed this organization for 10 years in Ukraine was appointed to the position of chief. That is, everything has returned to normal,” the lawyer said.
“During the detention of Gennady Anatolyevich there were many, one might say, legal “curiosities.” On the one hand, it would be funny if it weren't so sad. What was written in the protocols at that moment, the moment of detention, is suitable for feuilletons. Starting from the fact that even before the initiation of a criminal case, searches are carried out, before the initiation of a criminal case, witnesses are interrogated, which is prohibited in our country under the Criminal Procedure Code. However, subsequently the court did not even pay attention to this,” the lawyer added.
“It didn’t even smell like a bribe, but some article had to be left. The most vague article that could be left is attempted fraud, because it has very broad concepts and a lot of actions can be tailored to it... A week before us, a case was considered where there was fraud, there were a lot of victims on land plots, and damages amounting to many, many millions. The person who did not admit his guilt was given 4 years. However, Gennady Anatolyevich, who allegedly extorted money from an entrepreneur, was given 6 years and a 700 thousand ruble fine,” Basov’s lawyer drew attention to the extremely strict sentence.
“At present, a new cassation appeal has been filed with the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation. It sets out the main circumstances why this criminal case should, simply in its essence, be terminated, and Gennady Anatolyevich should be immediately released. Let's hope that the Supreme Court will read this and understand, because no one excludes the human factor... If we are heard, and at least one argument from our complaint is considered according to the law, not just written off in the trash can, like extra paper, if it is considered according to the law at least one of our arguments, Gennady Anatolyevich will be released with the right to rehabilitation,” says Gurkin.
