“Assholes! They became ossified" - the head of Roscosmos accused the State Department and the Ukrainians of falsifying history
The head of the Roscosmos state corporation, Dmitry Rogozin, criticized the publication of the US State Department about Cosmonautics Day on social networks.
“Assholes. Superpowers don’t behave like that,” Rogozin wrote and attached a link to the post from the “USA in Russian” page on Facebook (the official Russian-language account of the US State Department).
The publication states that April 12 marks the 60th anniversary of man in space, technological progress and international cooperation. However, the entry does not mention that the first person to fly into space was Yuri Gagarin, and the illustration shows an American astronaut.
The Ukrainian Yuzhnoye Design Bureau, which once participated in Soviet space programs, did not remember Gagarin either. Acting General Director of the bureau Alexander Kushnarev on the official website congratulated employees on “World Aviation and Cosmonautics Day and the Day of Workers in the Rocket and Space Industry of Ukraine.”
“Yuzhnoye Design Bureau never forgot what and who Cosmonautics Day is associated with, and what happened at Baikonur on April 12, 1961. To erase the name of Gagarin from memory, to thoroughly sully the feat of the engineers of the great country that united us... We have slipped into ossification,” Rogozin commented on his Facebook.
