“By leaving the country in search of a better world, we are capitulating as a generation,” Nayem wrote on a social network. – I understand that it’s hard for many of us, especially those who had the opportunity to feel or know how things could be and “how good it is there.” But I don’t understand the argument “nothing will change here,” “there are no prospects here,” and “fuck them all, let them live here themselves.” Because for me, the issue of emigration is, first of all, a matter of dignity, pride, and, to put it simply, I simply don’t want to give up.

The fact is that the Ukraine we have was not built by us. We got it from the “elite,” who either robbed the country or, out of inertia, continued to build a pathetic copy of the Soviet Union. It is not our generation that put personal interests in the civil service above the interests of the people, making corruption the locomotive of any processes. And it was not us who instilled in an entire people a sense of deep inferiority, which for 20 years in a row doomed the country to a struggle between two extremes - external control or cave nationalism. And it wasn’t us who proved to an entire generation that you can live a worthy life with your head raised only by humiliating yourself.”

He reassures everyone that the elite who robbed the country is living out its days and sooner or later, responsibility for what is happening in Ukraine “will have to be taken by those who are now 30-35-40,” and therefore calls for them to stay and wait.

“Yes, it’s hard here. Yes, a lot of things – compared to how they could be – look wild. Yes, there are problems with security, medicine, education and it is difficult to make plans for the future. This is all true. But it is foolish to think that once you receive citizenship and go through passport control, you will automatically become part of society in another country. It's an illusion. You will NEVER belong there. Even if you have your own big business, you will always be a stranger there.

I will say more, many (not all! but the majority) will remain “second class” and will be doomed to end their lives in the circle of others who have left other countries. And this is not within the framework of discrimination. But simply because an adult emigrant is a person with already established views and habits, who grew up in a different atmosphere and adopted different cultural patterns. Not to mention the fact that he is a banal competitor in the labor market, which, despite all the humanity of Western civilization, is not welcomed with open arms,” Nayem admits.
