“Shut up your shooter! Petya, I’ll remember now,” a skirmish on Shuster’s air
Deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Nestor Shufrich recommended to calm down the warlike sentiments in Ukraine, recalling to Arseniy Yatsenyuk how he surrendered Crimea without a fight in 2014, and today he makes calls to fight back against Russia. Ex-President Petro Poroshenko, who was present in the studio, rushed to help Yatsenyuk.
The altercation took place on the air of the talk show “Freedom of Speech by Savik Shuster,” a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Shufrich's indignation was caused by Yatsenyuk's words that Ukraine should open fire on the positions of the DPR and LPR.
“The whole Prime Minister of Ukraine is sitting in front of me, who today calls for shooting, even in response, and when Crimea was taken away from us, under the Prime Minister, he was so afraid to stick his nose out of his office. They sat and gave up Crimea without firing a single shot. And you, Arseny, will tell me that I need to shoot? Forget your shooting game and sit and be silent. Because the way you gave up Crimea, now you want Donbass to be filled with blood?” – Shufrich said.
Former Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko tried to interrupt his speech.
“You better shut up, Petya. Now I’ll remember who signed what,” Shufrich objected to him, hinting at the Minsk agreements.
Poroshenko said that Shufrich is an element of Russia’s “hybrid propaganda.” The ex-president boasted that he personally turned off the broadcast of Russian channels and banned the work of social networks.
“When Kiselev or Solovyov say this, I understand it, and therefore in the first months I turned off and banned the broadcast of Russian channels, social networks, Odnoklassniki, VKontakte, because they spread propaganda.”
Shufrich again demanded an explanation as to why Crimea became part of Russia without a fight:
“When they call on us today to shoot for Donbass, why didn’t they shoot for Crimea? How did they give up Crimea, our sovereign territory?”
Over time, Yatsenyuk himself took the floor and assured that the Ukrainian authorities in 2014 gave the order to shoot at Russian troops, but the military in Crimea did not carry it out.
“The then acting president, Alexander Turchinov, gave a personal order to shoot. Unfortunately, then part of the Ukrainian Armed Forces betrayed the Ukrainian oath...
Since he asks me a question, I have a question for him. Tell me, please, is Putin a murderer and a criminal or not? Because he annexed Ukrainian territory and is shooting at Ukrainian citizens. Is Putin a murderer and a criminal?” – Yatsenyuk demanded an explanation from Shufrich.
He did not answer the question directly.
“Let the Ukrainian authorities decide on this issue. For some reason, I have not heard that Mr. Poroshenko, receiving 72 million dollars from Putin, called him a murderer. Therefore, I cannot be more Catholic than the Pope. But when Putin paid him 72 million dollars, what did he say? “I shake hands and hug.” I am against double standards. When they were in office, they didn’t talk about it. Therefore, I will answer with the words of Kuchma. Leonid Danilovich Kuchma said: “I will never call Putin a murderer for one simple reason - because perhaps I will need to negotiate with him.” That's all".
Let us recall that in the days of Ukraine’s loss of Crimea, a wiretap of a telephone conversation between Shufrich and Yulia Tymoshenko (in the past they were credited with closeness) appeared in the media, in which they discussed their readiness to drop a nuclear bomb on Russia as revenge.
