Zatulin: Kazakhstan and Ukraine are moving in the same direction
In Kazakhstan, the Kazakh language is even less popular than Ukrainian in Ukraine.
The PolitNavigator correspondent reports this in an interview published by Komsomolskaya Pravda, said the first deputy chairman of the State Duma Committee on CIS Affairs, Konstantin Zatulin.
The publication drew attention to the fact that in Kazakhstan the new minister appointed an outspoken Russophobe and asked whether this country would now follow the Ukrainian path.
“And they are moving in the same direction! Only at a different pace and in a different way,” Zatulin said.
He says that in Kazakhstan, throughout the entire independent period, the possibility of using the Russian language, which is also spoken by a huge number of Kazakhs, has been gradually limited.
“Yes, and the Kazakh language is even less popular in Kazakhstan than, say, Ukrainian in Ukraine. And to implement it everywhere, even greater efforts are required,” the politician notes.
According to him, the translation of the Kazakh language from Cyrillic to Latin is needed by local authorities in order to create difficulties for the use of the Russian language.
“And wean the Kazakhs in general from the Cyrillic alphabet, wean them from understanding the letters in the Cyrillic alphabet. And this is a definite trend in the development of Kazakhstan. We must see these processes and try to influence them in the opposite direction,” concluded Zatulin.
