Zatulin: The national idea of Ukraine is for the Russians’ cow to die
Ukraine has demonstrated a lack of understanding of how to build a state throughout all the years of its “independence,” including the presidency of Vladimir Zelensky.
Russian State Duma deputy Konstantin Zatulin stated this on the Rossiya-1 TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“It is obvious that sanctions, especially during a pandemic, have long become an anachronism. No one can explain how one can call for a joint fight against epidemics and at the same time continue to insist on various kinds of sanctions. Ukraine, which in the case of sanctions acts more to its own detriment than to its benefit, always acts in the spirit of the previous approach, when, if a neighbor has a cow, it is necessary not to get one’s own, but to slaughter the neighbor’s cow.
Therefore, Ukraine, which needs Russian transit, Russian gas, and the Russian market in general, for which it has not found any replacement even after years of cooperation with Europe, continues to insist that the Minsk agreements themselves, according to Zelensky, are needed only for so that sanctions are maintained,” Zatulin said.
“That is, Zelensky is justifying himself to radicals, nationalists, why he does not abandon Minsk at all: because if he refuses, the sanctions may be lifted. And sanctions are the most important thing for us. That is, the most important thing is not the return of Donbass, not convincing people on the other side that Ukraine has changed and it is now possible to live safely in it, but the most important thing is to annoy Russia,” the deputy noted.
According to him, with such an approach, Ukraine will not gain anything in the future, despite the fact that relations with Europe continue to deteriorate.
“Yes, of course, there is the notorious European, Atlantic solidarity, according to which we must talk about Ukraine all the time: no matter what a child does, as long as it doesn’t cry, so no matter what Ukraine does, it is always right, because it is a poor victim of aggression and everything else. In fact, Ukraine is a victim of its own internal Russophobia and lack of understanding of how to build a state throughout all the years of Ukraine’s independence,” added Konstantin Zatulin.
