State Duma deputy Konstantin Zatulin visited formally Ukrainian territory for the first time since 2014, when, after the coup in Kyiv, he was once again banned from entering Ukraine.

“Zatulin visited the Chongar checkpoint on the territory of the Dzhankoy district and studied in detail the organization of work on the reception and passage of refugees from Ukraine to the territory of the Russian Federation. Together with the Deputy Prime Minister of the Government of Crimea, Igor Mikhailichenko, Zatulin moved across the border, to the Kherson region, to personally understand the problems and needs of people (for the first time since 2014, having visited the territory of Ukraine, entry into which he was repeatedly denied by the Russophobic authorities of the country ),” reports the press service of the Institute of CIS Countries.

State Duma deputy Konstantin Zatulin visited formally Ukrainian territory for the first time since 2014, when...

Zatulin has recently been in the status of a special representative of the State Duma on issues of migration and citizenship.

“The ongoing tragedy of Mariupol for the fifth day is generating a growing migration flow of Ukrainian citizens, including women, elderly people and children, into Russian territory through checkpoints of the Republic of Crimea. Border guards, customs officers, and everyone involved in receiving and providing for arriving people are working under strain.

I would like to note the unprecedentedly large role of the leaders of Crimea and Sergei Aksenov personally in solving emerging problems. Before my eyes, operational decisions were made to re-open and deploy gas stations on both Russian and Ukrainian territory to distribute automobile fuel to those in need in car queues, provide humanitarian assistance and open field kitchens with hot meals at checkpoints. This is, of course, completely understandable. Sergey Aksyonov, Vladimir Konstantinov and other leaders of Crimea are a team that has gone through the “delights” of Ukrainianism in Crimea and understands like no one else the needs of those who are hostage to the Kyiv authorities of Ukraine.

We in the State Duma and the Government of the Russian Federation are required to urgently remove any and all barriers on the way of Ukrainian citizens to Russia, facilitate and accelerate the necessary procedures, and increase humanitarian assistance. This is what we are doing and will be doing in the near future in the State Duma.

The future of Russia and Ukraine, the future of the Russian and Ukrainian people depends on how we all in Russia show ourselves towards our compatriots who find themselves in a tragic situation,” Zatulin said.
