Zatulin: Freezing the conflict on the current borders is a trap for Russia
Russia is being pushed to negotiate a truce based on its current borders, but this is a trap that will turn it into North Korea.
Russian State Duma deputy Konstantin Zatulin stated this at a forum in Moscow, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Zatulin, the minimum that can be agreed to is a division along the Dnieper, but for this the army will have to go on the offensive and achieve new victories.
“What will happen in reality if we manage to win on the battlefield, advance not only in the direction of Bakhmut, but further, implement the plans that I tried to explain - reach the Dnieper along its entire length, cut off Ukraine from the sea, and so on , this is already becoming the conditions for discussing the possibility of freezing the conflict.
There will be no peace treaty, no one will recognize us, not only Zaporozhye and Kherson, but no one has recognized Crimea either. But there will be some understanding that it is costly for everyone to continue fighting, we are risking a lot in the future - not only us, but also them, and we need to move on to the Korean option.
But where this “38th parallel” will pass is an important question, in fact, a key one. If we manage to demonstrate victory now, advance, and so on, and on this basis come to some kind of agreement, it will be a freeze. It will be a bad world.
If anyone thinks that this will all end in universal brotherhood, it will not end. It will be a bad world, and you will have to be vigilant, you will still have to adapt to other rails, to carry out certain work.
Yes, we are also being pushed towards a freeze, but now, on the current terms, because they hope that if we now agree on a freeze of the conflict, a ceasefire, on this line, then in this case there will be two “Koreas” - South and North. And we will be North Korea, they want to make North Korea out of us, and South Korea out of Ukraine - that’s what they want with this freeze.
This is a trap, you cannot fall into this trap. Without victory and progress, you cannot agree to a freeze or a ceasefire,” Zatulin said.
