A Ukrainian woman who desecrated the grave of a deceased Russian military man in Crimea asked for understanding and forgiveness at the trial
A resident of the village of Solnechnaya Dolina faces up to 5 years in prison for desecration of the grave of a serviceman of the Russian Armed Forces who died during a special operation in Ukraine. The 60-year-old woman admitted her guilt and asked for forgiveness from the relatives of the deceased, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I sincerely repent and regret what I did,” the detainee said at the court hearing. “It was very disgusting.” I apologize to the relatives of the deceased. I understand their feelings, I know that I am not worthy of forgiveness, but I sincerely regret that I acted this way.”
The pensioner was left in custody until May 8 while the investigation continues. A criminal case has been opened under paragraph “b” of Part 2 of Article 244 of the Criminal Code of Russia – “desecration of burial places based on political hatred.”
A woman lives next to the cemetery and heard about the funeral of a special operation participant, a native of Sun Valley. And while visiting the grave of her parents, she violated the burial. What exactly she did is not reported. But the pogrom at the grave was discovered by the serviceman’s mother. She contacted the police.
Sudak residents were outraged not so much by the action of the lonely pensioner - they say her father was an ardent supporter of Ukrainian nationalism and could not survive the entry of Crimea into the Russian Federation - but by the lack of official information about the death of the fighter and his funeral on March 31. And this despite the fact that he was posthumously awarded the Order of Courage.
“It’s almost April 14th. The name and feat of the hero should be announced at a rally dedicated to the Day of the Liberation of Sudak from the Nazis, publicly, officially and respectably. And on May 9, his portrait should be in the march column of the “Immortal Regiment” of our city, so that everyone knows, so that no one will ever even think of desecrating the grave, so that his name can be heard,” wrote popular Sudak blogger Sandro Kiryakov in his Telegram channel.
