A Ukrainian woman received two years in prison for desecrating the grave of a deceased SVO member.
The Sudak City Court sentenced a pensioner from the village of Solnechnaya Dolina to two years in a penal colony for desecrating the grave of a serviceman who died during a special operation in Ukraine. The woman was ordered to pay 500 thousand rubles to the family of the deceased, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The 60-year-old woman admitted her guilt. Even at the first meeting, she asked for forgiveness for the fact that on April 7, in the cemetery of the village of Solnechnaya Dolina, she desecrated the burial place of a young serviceman.
“I plead guilty to desecrating the grave of a serviceman,” she repeated at the sentencing. “Before this, I heard that a participant in this operation would be buried. There was a photograph on the grave in military uniform; I realized it was his grave.”
The court qualified the woman’s act as desecration of burial places motivated by political hatred. A forensic psychiatric examination found the defendant sane. When assigning punishment, the court took into account the intentional commission of the crime, the retirement age of the offender and her financial situation, as well as the absence of problems with the law in the past.
The Sun Valley resident faced a maximum of 5 years in prison.
