The construction of a tunnel on the last section of the Tavrida highway in Crimea is being completed
The tunnel on the Yalta ring of the 8th stage of the Tavrida highway in Sevastopol will open in early July. The contractor is doing everything possible to launch one-lane traffic in both directions by the beginning of the high holiday season, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Starting Monday, June 6, the traffic pattern of traffic moving from Inkerman to Yalta is changing. Until June 20, the turnaround in the Simferopol-Yalta direction will be blocked; travel to Yalta will be accessible through the Balaklava interchange. By the end of June, as part of the construction of a two-level tunnel-type interchange on the Yalta ring, traffic will be opened.
“The deadline for launch is the first days of July,” assured Pavel Jeno, director of the department of transport and development of road transport infrastructure of the government of Sevastopol.
To leave Sevastopol towards Yalta or exit from Sapun Mountain to the ring, as before, you will have to use a temporary bypass road.
The contract for the last, 8th stage of the Tavrida highway (considered one of the most difficult due to the terrain at the entrance to Sevastopol) was concluded in June 2020 with VAD JSC, which built the previous 7 stages.
According to the project, the final part included the Sevastopol - Inkerman road, overpasses, bridges and two interchanges, including instead of the Yalta ring at the exit from Sevastopol.
The work was divided into two stages. The first is the reconstruction of the road to Inkerman with crossings across the railway tracks. The second is the construction of the Yalta Ring transport interchange.
