The Russian army still depends on Ukrainian components. The General Director of the Center for Strategic Assessments and Forecasts, Sergei Grinyaev, announced this today at a press conference in Moscow.

“Today, in fact, two thirds of the navy are forced to work on Ukrainian-made engines. Helicopters still fly on Ukrainian Motor Sich engines. “Yuzhmash still remains a company that ensures the combat effectiveness of the Russian strategic missile forces,” Grinyaev said.
At the same time, the expert believes, the Russian army managed to overcome the “Serdyukov reforms”, when units and enrollment in schools were reduced, and Western-style weapons were purchased. That is why in Syria, in a war with a trained enemy, there are fewer losses than during the Georgian campaign of 2008.
“The Kantemirovskaya and Tamanskaya divisions have been restored, because brigades cannot hold the western direction. Enrollments in schools are being restored to the level of pre-Serdyukov times. At a minimum, we have restored our defense capability. It is unknown what the fate of Russia would be like today if its army were equipped with NATO weapons,” Grinyaev said.
