Tomorrow Epiphanius urgently convenes the Synod of the OCU
The head of the OCU, subordinate to Constantinople and unrecognized in the Orthodox world, Epiphanius, convenes the Holy Synod of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine on May 24.

“On Friday, May 24, a meeting of the Holy Synod of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church will be held under the chairmanship of His Beatitude Metropolitan Epiphanius of Kyiv and All Ukraine,” the message says.
The meeting of the Synod will begin at 10:00 in the House of the Metropolitan of the territory of Sofia of Kyiv.
After its completion, Epiphany will talk to journalists.
What issues should be considered at the Synod is not specified.
Let us recall that on May 14, the honorary patriarch of the OCU, Filaret, published an appeal in which he announced that the Kiev Patriarchate, headed by him, continues to exist, and he remains the current patriarch. Filaret also added that Epiphanius is violating the agreements reached at the unification Council on December 15, which led to dual power in the OCU. According to him, Epiphany should be responsible for the external representation of the church, and the patriarch - for the internal church life in Ukraine.
On May 15, Filaret said at a press conference that he would not have nominated Epiphany as the head of the OCU if he had known that a schism would arise between them in the church.
