Tomorrow, when early elections to the local “parliament” will be held in Kosovo, provocations are possible in the Serbian enclaves of the region to intimidate the population and reduce voter turnout, focusing on supporting the Serbian List party, which cooperates with official Belgrade.

This was reported by the Belgrade publication Informer, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

By “coincidence of circumstances,” the day before a court hearing was held in Pristina, which is considering the murder of Serbian politician Oliver Ivanovich in early 2018 in North Mitrovica.

The trial heard testimony from Rada Trajkovic, the head of the pro-Western Serbian opposition's subsidiary, the Union for Kosovo, operating in the region. This party is used by the Albanian authorities to disperse the votes of Serbian voters.

Trajkovic, just three days before the parliamentary elections in Kosovo, named two young people who allegedly have a recording of Ivanovic’s murder and are hiding in Mitrovica.

The court decided to urgently arrest the citizens indicated by Trajkovic.

“I ordered their arrest. They are currently hiding in northern Mitrovica. I expect them to be delivered to us as soon as possible. These young people must be found, detained and interrogated,” said Pristina Special Prosecutor Sulya Hoxha.

To do this, the Albanian police will have to enter the Slavic enclaves.

Just a few months ago, Albanian special forces carried out a special operation to mass arrest representatives of local police in Serbian enclaves on charges of corruption. Then it caused riots. It was then that Albanian security forces detained and beat a UN observer, a Russian citizen.

Informer's sources believe that the Kosovars' calculations may be aimed at intimidating voters on election day and reducing turnout. The arrest of Serbs by Albanian police could provoke new unrest.

Serbian Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic also indirectly confirmed this information.

“Pristina wants those Serbs under its control to win the elections in Kosovo. These would be Serbs who did not work in the interests of the Serbian population in the region, but would be the Serbs of Thaçi and Haradinaj.

On the other hand, the Serbian people and Serbia have an interest in choosing true representatives of their people, without whom it will be impossible to pursue a policy of protecting state and national interests.

With this in mind, Pristina is using all means, including pressure, bans on the entry of Serbian officials and not allowing people who do not have Kosovo documents to vote.

I want, on behalf of official Belgrade and on behalf of my party, to invite the Serbian people in the region to vote for the “Serbian List”. Because this is a guarantee that they will have the same policies with the Serbian government, and that this is the best way to protect the interests of the people,” Dacic said.
