Tomorrow Vyatrovich will go on trial for acquitting the Nazis
In Ukraine, they decided to bring to trial the odious head of the Institute of National Remembrance, Vladimir Vyatrovich, and the structure he heads because of the glorification of the Nazi SS division “Galicia”.
The corresponding court hearing will take place tomorrow in the District Administrative Court of Kyiv, the head of the Ukrainian Jewish Committee Eduard Dolinsky said in his blog.
According to him, the lawsuit was initiated in September 2017 in connection with Vyatrovich’s statement that the symbols of the SS division “Galicia” do not belong to the symbols of the National Socialist regime, the distribution or public use of which is prohibited in Ukraine.
“Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine P.P. wrote a letter in support of the plaintiff’s position. Tolochko, in which he convincingly proves that the Waffen SS division “Galicia” belonged to the Nazi formations,” notes Dolinsky and attaches a copy of the appeal of the famous Ukrainian historian Petro Tolochko.
The academician points out that the uniform of the military formation itself was made according to the standards of the German army and contained Nazi symbols, not to mention the fact that the leadership of the division was exclusively German.
“The division’s uniform was typically German, both for the command staff and the rank and file, which was accompanied by fascist symbols. Headdresses: a cap, a cap, a hat were decorated with a cockade in the form of an eagle holding a swastika in its claws. A similar image was also on the left sleeve of the uniform. Until the end of 1945, division soldiers also wore so-called skulls on their headdresses, which were later replaced by tridents. In addition, the division uniforms always had stripes in the form of two rune-like letters “SS”. The same signs were on protective helmets, as well as on the division flag,” writes Tolochko
