“They inflate prices for components” – Zhivov on the shortage of simple drones in the Russian Army
Due to the artificial increase in prices for technological components in Russia, the Russian army is still inferior to the enemy in terms of the number of use of simple drones.
Political scientist Alexey Zhivov stated this on the radio “Komsomolskaya Pravda”, the correspondent of “PolitNavigator” reports.
“We have a problem with FPV drones. Why is Ukraine doing well, but not so much with them?” – the presenter asked.
“In Ukraine they started working with this type of drones earlier. Plus they have better access to components and more choice. And prices in Ukraine have always been lower for everything, including Chinese components for drones.
What is sold in Russia for a ruble, in Ukraine – for fifty kopecks. Until now, no one is really doing anything about this; they constantly raise prices for everything, especially when it comes to technological production,” Zhivov was indignant.
The political scientist explained that FPV drones are small drones that can fly several kilometers. They are made from the simplest components, but can carry a grenade weighing up to three kilograms.
“The operator flies, wearing glasses, the drone can reach speeds of up to 200 kilometers per hour. They can fly into windows, into tank hatches, but also just into people. Depending on what kind of ammunition is attached to the drone, they can hit almost any type of armored vehicle,” he added.
Zhivov noted that there is still a severe lack of means to combat such drones at the front.
“This is all new. In general, such a massive use of drones to kill military personnel and civilians is new to the world. And for us this is doubly new, because in the pre-war period we were so carried away by the fight against the opposition that we threw out the baby with the bathwater, banned all these drones, and did not finance the development of the industry.
There are large electronic warfare systems that can jam them. There are also small compact jammers. But they are expensive, starting from 300 thousand rubles. There are aeroscopes that theoretically can see them, this costs from seven million rubles.
But this is all experimental, we are just learning how to use it at the front,” he concluded.
