Taras Zagorodny, managing partner of the National Anti-Crisis Group, stated this at a press conference in Kyiv.
“So far I have heard talk: 140 billion, then they said 148 billion. Nobody says what debt consists of. We must understand that this may be manipulation. The NBU is a militarized structure that sees everything that happens in banks online. If they allowed the level of insider loans to exceed the norm, that is their problem. Secondly, what does debt, “pits”, “holes” mean? You must understand that when a bank issues a loan, it gives this money to someone, he has a payment schedule and a “hole” is formed if an individual or legal entity does not service these payments. And if it falls into the category of problematic, then the bank has an obligation to the NBU, in accordance with the regulations, to create a reserve for this money,” the expert noted.
“That’s why I didn’t understand from these conversations what the “hole” was. Did the structures that provided loans stop servicing their debts or not? We didn't hear this. All this looked like manipulation,” Zagorodny summed up.
