Statement by a Canadian parliamentarian on submarines in the Black Sea - speech by a lone eccentric
The ominous statement by Canadian Federal Parliament member James Bezan about the appearance of NATO submarines in the Black Sea is one person’s point of view that should not be paid attention to.
Pavel Rudyakov, director of the Perspektiva information and political center, stated this in a comment to a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“This is one person's point of view. From a military point of view, military personnel and sailors say that ships in the Black Sea are more of a demonstration moment than something real, because they are very vulnerable, the area is small, you can deal with them from the shores, from airplanes. Therefore, in the Black Sea it is difficult to imagine a clash between squadrons or elements of squadrons, say, Russian and NATO. Submarines are just as needed there as these ships. This is a demonstration effect, the ships have arrived and have already indicated their presence.
Therefore, it seems to me that in this case we are talking about an element of psychological pressure, which may have the goal of throwing the Russian leadership, in particular the military, out of balance and pushing it to take some ill-considered steps. Because, in principle, NATO provokes, NATO puts pressure, expecting retaliatory steps that could be taken by forgetting about their provocation, as the Americans often do, they provoke, then put their provocation out of the picture and begin to respond to actions that became a retaliatory measure. I think that in this case these are verbal exercises that you shouldn’t pay attention to,” said Rudyakov.
