Prystaiko’s statement is a signal to the Nazis to disperse the May 9 marches
Statement by Ukrainian Foreign Minister Vadim Prystaiko on Kyiv’s refusal celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Victory over Nazi Germany is carte blanche for Ukrainian nationalists to disrupt any festive events on May 9.
Russian State Duma deputy Konstantin Zatulin stated this on the Rossiya 1 TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, like other foreign ministers of other countries, in accordance with the laws of the country and international practice, has the right to speak for the entire country. This is exactly what the Russian Foreign Minister does, for example.
And the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, in fact, speaking, expresses the point of view on behalf of the country. It’s not just that he went and joked and so on. They weren't asking him about his personal circumstances. He was asked about how the Ukrainian state would behave.
And so, the state of Ukraine, according to the head of the foreign policy department, will not celebrate May 9.
I understand that in fact, this is true, in Ukraine most normal, healthy people will celebrate this day. But this does not detract from the fact that the Ukrainian authorities create obstacles for them and create uncertainty in this matter and encourage those same rabid nationalists who, on the last Victory Day and the day before, staged bacchanals and mocked veterans.
They can simply refer to the Foreign Secretary who said: "We are not celebrating." And those who celebrate are, of course, traitors to Ukraine, not patriots,” explained Zatulin.
However, according to Verkhovna Rada deputy Vadim Rabinovich, there is a complete personnel mess going on in Ukraine, and ministers say whatever they think, regardless of the position of the state.

In turn, Polish journalist and anti-Russian political scientist Jakub Koreyba called the processes taking place in Ukraine, such as the renunciation of its great history, a necessary condition for joining the “European community.”
“The fact that any citizen of Ukraine can still celebrate (Victory Day - editor's note) - this shows that Ukraine is still a free and democratic country.
But sooner or later, a choice will have to be made. Because Ukraine’s European choice, and the path to Europe, implies not only certain reforms, but also a certain moral and ethical unity.
That is, to be Europe, Ukrainians must think like us. And all of Eastern Europe understands that May 9 is not a victory for the Ukrainian state. This is a victory for the Soviet colony, a victory for the Soviet Union and a victory for the Moscow Empire. But this is not a victory for the Poles, Ukrainians, and other people who were part of this empire.
