Hello, NATO: Black Sea Fleet aviation begins exercises in Crimea
The crews of the Su-30 multirole fighters and Su-24 front-line bombers of the Black Sea Fleet naval aviation began preparing for tactical flight exercises. The head of the information support department of the Black Sea Fleet, captain 2nd rank Alexey Rulev, reported this to PolitNavigator.
The pilots began performing training flights. The crews of the Su-30 and Su-24 will carry out tasks to gain dominance in the skies in a training battle.
The pilots of a separate mixed aviation regiment of the fleet will act as a mock enemy.
Preparatory flights take place both during the day and at night at different altitudes and in difficult weather conditions.
As PolitNavigator reported, the day before, the director of the Institute of Foreign Policy of the Diplomatic Academy under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Grigory Perepelitsa, noted the important role of strengthening Russian aviation in Crimea.
“Russia has turned Crimea into a powerful military base of strategic importance. It controls the waters of the Black Sea and the airspace of the entire Black Sea region. The number of aircraft increased over these five years from 22 to 112, including operational-strategic bombers. It changed the balance of power on NATO's eastern flank and achieved a strategic advantage. Relatively speaking, she broke through this flank,” Perepelitsa said.
