A sensible voice from Kyiv: We need to negotiate with the LDPR
The deployment of UN peacekeepers to Donbass is impossible without taking into account the opinion of the LDPR. Political scientist Alexey Yakubin stated this at a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“As far as I understand, the idea was chosen between Volker and Surkov that the Minsk Contact Group would be the party where representatives of the self-proclaimed republics are represented, with whom it would be possible to discuss the topics of prisoners of war, the political part (of the Minsk agreements), and even the mandate of the peacekeepers. We understand that without agreement with the self-proclaimed republics there can be no talk of any mandate for peacekeepers. One way or another, that side will participate in this process,” the expert said.
He believes that the Americans, who have influence on the Ukrainian elite, will be able to achieve a compromise decision in the Verkhovna Rada.
“The United States is collecting a variety of opinions and is ready to address the issue of peacekeepers in the Verkhovna Rada. In this regard, I see some optimism,” says Yakubin.
