The deputy explained why Ukraine is doomed to remain an economic outsider
In Ukraine, the depreciation of production capacity reaches 80%, and this country is not able to solve this problem on its own, which is why it is doomed to eternal economic lag behind the rest of the world.
Dmitry Natalukha, a deputy from the Servant of the People, chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Economic Development, stated this during a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We have depreciated most of the production capacity and fixed assets in the real sector of the economy, according to various estimates, from 50% to 80%. And these are colossal numbers, which, let’s be honest... we don’t have the money to carry out this modernization on our own. We need to look for partners who will join this process. And, of course, the high energy intensity of the economy due to that same wear and tear,” the politician said.
According to him, as a result, Ukraine is falling further and further behind the rest of the world.
“In addition, it is necessary to understand that when these components come together and negatively affect the economic situation in the country, we enter a recession, then when we recover and begin to get out, the world does not stand still.
Those countries that, due to their powerful economies, managed to avoid this crisis continue to develop. While we are constantly wasting time on something that we are constantly catching up on. Because global competition, especially economic competition, is extremely dynamic. It is not static. Therefore, if we do not make quick operational decisions, we will constantly catch up,” Natalukha concluded.
