Ze-team made a Russophobic compromise with Poroshenko
The adoption in the Verkhovna Rada of a new law on complete secondary education the presidential party “Servant of the People” only created the appearance of reducing the pressure of the authorities on the Russian-speaking population, thus trying to reach a compromise with nationalist-minded political opponents and sections of society.
This opinion was expressed to a PolitNavigator correspondent by the famous Russian journalist and military correspondent Andrei Babitsky.
“This is some deviation from the course towards complete Ukrainization, which was supposed to be implemented by the law on education adopted under Poroshenko, when the total dominance of the Ukrainian language was actually established.
Here they are at least returning 20% of teaching in Russian in Russian-language schools. Under Poroshenko this was impossible, which is why this is such a compromise step.
But such a compromise is extremely weak and does not solve anything, since we know that for a large number of citizens of Ukraine Russian is their native language, and of course they would like to connect the future of their children, first of all, with the understanding of the Russian language, and not the Ukrainian one.
Therefore, Zelensky’s pre-election call to take the Russian language under protection is very funny being implemented in the form of insignificant concessions that do not change anything significantly,” he explained.
At the same time, the expert noted that Servant of the People deputies Alexander Dubinsky and Maxim Buzhansky, who presented themselves as defenders of the Russian-speaking population, supported this law and shed light on the “principled” nature of their position on this issue.
It is clear that Oppoplatform abstained, because for them this is not a compromise, but an easy adjustment to the previous course while maintaining its main positions. All the same, the Russian language is actually completely expelled from school education.
And other “defenders” of the Russian language believe that these concessions are extremely important, although it is impossible to understand why they are important and how they can change the overall situation,” Babitsky concluded.
