Ze-team calls on Galicians to prepare for a total flood
Destroyed Western Ukraine floods caused unprecedented damage to the country - hundreds of kilometers of roads were damaged, bridges were washed away and other infrastructure was destroyed, many settlements were isolated. And the situation will get worse.
Deputy from the Servant of the People Eduard Proshchuk announced this during a plenary meeting of the Verkhovna Rada, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“For more than a week, the country’s attention has been focused on the western regions. Due to excessive rainfall, hundreds of settlements and thousands of human houses are flooded.
The disaster brought great misfortune to the communities - many infrastructure facilities were destroyed, farmland, farms, tourist sites, schools, hospitals, and kindergartens were flooded or damaged. Hundreds of people were left homeless. Unfortunately, there are victims,” the politician said.
The deputy emphasized that due to the colossal destruction caused by the flood in the Carpathian region alone, this region is almost completely paralyzed. And this is not the end.
“Colleagues, I would like to draw your attention to the situation that has developed in the Carpathian region - during this time, almost 300 settlements were flooded, 130 of which remain flooded to this day.
We are talking about more than 13 thousand residential buildings, more than 18 thousand personal plots, more than six thousand basements, 17 paramedic stations. 93 bridges, more than 200 kilometers of roads, and more than 80 kilometers of bank fortifications were destroyed. Another 250 bridges and 600 kilometers of roads were damaged. Transport connections to 16 settlements are limited.
I emphasize that these figures are only for the Carpathian region. The scale of the flood and the damage caused, according to preliminary estimates, already exceeds 2008. And this is not the end, because, unfortunately, heavy rainfall continues,” Proshchuk added.
Let us recall that earlier the ex-President of Ukraine Leonid Kravchuk said that The cause of the disaster was illegal deforestation, which has reached unprecedented proportions.
