The political scientist admitted that they will have to fight before the US elections
A ceasefire in Ukraine is possible no earlier than the end of the US presidential campaign.
Political scientist Vadim Fesenko, who serves the interests of the office of the President of Ukraine, stated this in an interview with journalist Alexander Shelest, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to the expert, now Russia will not agree to any negotiations, because its army is going on the offensive.
“Military tension, including economic tension, can be withstood for several years, but not indefinitely. Therefore, I am convinced that after some time, the only question is when... the most optimistic forecasts are the second half of next year. More realistic forecasts are that after the end of the presidential elections in the United States, that is, the beginning of 25, there will be negotiations,” the expert said.
“But how quickly they can reach an agreement is a big question. In my opinion, it will be possible to agree on only one thing – the cessation of hostilities. All the calls to start negotiations now are easy to say. Now, according to even the White House and many European analysts, Russia is not ready for negotiations. They want to seize the strategic initiative, taking advantage of problems with military supplies to Ukraine, and are trying to go on the offensive...
For now, there will be war in the coming months, no matter how much someone wants peace in our country. What will happen next? I'll say a simple thing. Paradoxically, for peace to take place, Putin will have to be forced to peace. For the future, even in order to simply agree on a cessation of hostilities, Putin must still be forced to do so. It just won’t happen like that,” Fesenko said.
