Zelensky takes control of the joint forces command in Donbass
President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky dismissed Petro Poroshenko's leader, Alexander Syrsky, from the post of commander of the Joint Forces and appointed Vladimir Kravchenko to this position, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The corresponding decrees No. 577/2019 and No. 579/2019 dated August 5 were published on the official website of the head of state.
Lieutenant General (received the rank in August 2018) Kravchenko has been the commander of the troops of the operational command “North” of the Ukrainian Ground Forces since 2017.
Let us recall that at the beginning of May 2019, at the end of his tenure, ex-President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko appointed Syrsky as commander of the Joint Forces, which was perceived by observers as an attempt to deprive the newly elected President Zelensky of operational control over the situation in the Joint Forces Operation, which was commanded by Poroshenko’s creature.
Today Syrsky was appointed commander of the Ground Forces.
