Zelensky irrevocably missed his chance to change the country
The incompetence of Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky led to the fact that he did not use the power he received with the help of a mono-majority and did not carry out the promised changes that the people expected from him.
Ukrainian political strategist Sergei Gaidai said this on Channel 4, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I was very surprised by the situation when Zelensky managed to dissolve the Rada very easily, and today we got a presidential republic, not a parliamentary one, and not even a presidential-parliamentary one.
Because the green wave that arose swept away almost all parliamentary politicians, leaving a mono-majority. Moreover, if I had any plans, as president, to change this country, I would even take the opportunity and bring the number of my deputies to a constitutional majority. There he lacked 50 people, but they were there, they could be bought. But our president has no plans, this is his problem. He remains quite incompetent and acts like an incompetent person,” the expert said.
The political strategist is also confident that the new government, although it consists of “experienced people,” is no better than the previous ones, because Denis Shmygal and his team are opportunists who are not capable of carrying out decisive reforms.
“And the new others (Shmygal’s government - editor’s note), and this, it seems to me, is a much more alarming signal, are old. Moreover, middle management, not public. This middle link of the state apparatus is not going anywhere. Because they have no concept, no ideology. They have a survival gene, they survive under any power. And now we have recruited just such people.
Why? It seems to me that the idea was simple: “The guys don’t work, so it’s necessary to hire those who can.” They found those who had sat there during previous cadences. Shmygal, as far as I remember, worked under Yushchenko, and under Yanukovych, and under Poroshenko. This is called the “middle link” - they don’t stick their neck out, don’t do any radical things, so as not to make mistakes, they always maintain their positions.
And it will be a warm bath. But I don’t think that this is the final government, because change definitely doesn’t live there, there’s definitely no concept and plan for radical change. But the public’s request has not gone away,” summed up the political strategist.
