Zelensky thanks Erdogan for signing the agreement on drones that threatens the LDPR
Ukraine and Turkey signed a Memorandum of Cooperation, which provides for the construction of a joint training and testing center for the maintenance, repair and modernization of Bayraktar TB2 attack UAVs.
This was reported by the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
In the presence of Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky, Defense Minister Andriy Taran and Bayraktar CEO Haluk Bayraktar signed the document.
“We have been waiting for this moment for a very long time. This is an important event for us. This is a big real step forward. Grateful to President Erdogan. This is real support for the sovereignty and independence of Ukraine,” Zelensky said.
In addition to repairs and modernization, the center will also train personnel who will work with these drones. At the next stage, it is planned to create drones on the territory of Ukraine.
Interestingly, the day before, a Turkish-made Bayraktar attack drone was spotted near the front line in Donbass.
According to military expert Igor Korotchenko, in order to prevent the use of UAVs against LDPR positions, Russia should introduce a no-fly zone in this area.
“Russia needs to establish a no-fly zone over the DPR and LPR,” he wrote on his blog.
