Zelensky is afraid to go to Israel - the President of Ukraine was put on a stretch mark
Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky may not go to Israel, where he was invited to participate in an event scheduled for January 23 dedicated to the memory of Jews killed by the Nazis.
The Kiev online publication “Mirror of the Week” writes about this, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The publication recalls that the former head of the information department of the Right Sector and a member of the previous Rada, Borislav Bereza, said that Zelensky set a condition for Israel: he will participate in the World Holocaust Remembrance Forum organized by Yad Vashem only if he is given the right to speak there. According to Bereza, Israel refused, and therefore Zelensky found himself “at a crossroads.”
However, according to the publication’s sources, representatives of Ukraine are in Tel Aviv preparing the president’s visit, but some interlocutors admitted that the visit may not take place, since Zelensky’s office doubted the advisability of the trip for a number of reasons.
So, the Israelis still have not confirmed that Zelensky will have a meeting with the Prime Minister of Israel. In addition, just the other day, Israel accused Ukraine of honoring “those responsible for the murder of Jews during the Holocaust and pogroms, as well as anti-Semitic ideologists of the Ukrainian national movement.”
“Given these and other accusations from Tel Aviv, as well as the upcoming speech in Jerusalem by Putin, who (is expected) will again attack not only Poland, but also Ukraine, Kyiv is trying to ensure that Zelensky also makes a speech. And the Ukrainian side spoke about this from the very beginning of preparations for the visit.
But the Israelis, citing the fact that the forum is organized by Yad Vashem, did not directly say that Zelensky would not have the opportunity to speak. Only after the forum program appeared, it became known: only the presidents of Russia, Germany, France, as well as the British Prince Charles and the Vice President of the United States would be given the floor. In such a situation, the Ukrainian president will be forced to listen to attacks in silence, without being able to respond adequately,” the article says.
It is noted that such a scenario “does not suit Kyiv and is pushing Bankova to make a decision to cancel Zelensky’s participation in the World Holocaust Forum.”
The article also indicates that a serious problem for Bankova was that the Ukrainian side’s linking of the president’s trip to Israel with his speech at the forum became public knowledge. As a result, Zelensky found himself in a situation where he is forced to choose a scenario, each of which threatens him and Ukraine with image losses.
“If Zelensky takes part in the forum and does not make a speech, this will demonstrate that the Ukrainian president can be ignored. If he doesn’t go, he will be accused of ignoring an important international event and missing the opportunity to meet with Israeli business and politicians who could contribute to the growth of investment in the Ukrainian economy,” ZN summarizes.
As PolitNavigator reported, the ambassadors of Israel and Poland in Kyiv published a joint statement, in which the policy of glorifying the Nazis pursued in Ukraine was harshly criticized.
