Vladimir Zelensky finally had a telephone conversation with Chinese leader Xi Jinping. Kyiv had been seeking this conversation for several weeks, but the head of the PRC first flew to Moscow and held negotiations there with Vladimir Putin.

Zelensky claims that the conversation was “long” (the press service clarified that it was one hour) and “substantive.” Beijing will soon send its special representative to Ukraine - diplomat Li Hui, who previously worked in Moscow. Chinese TV, in turn, mentions Jinping’s warning - there are no winners in a nuclear war. This is exactly how Beijing interprets the threat of further development of the Ukrainian crisis with the participation of NATO and insists on negotiations within the framework of a peace plan. Earlier, Emmanuel Macron visited the Chinese - it is believed that he is also involved in preparing for the freezing scenario.

Sinologist Nikolai Vavilov predicted at the end of March that telephone conversations between top officials in Kyiv and Beijing would take place “after the fall of Bakhmut/Artemovsk or in the obvious anticipation of this situation.”

“Xi will definitely call to discuss the terms of Ukraine’s capitulation - first, this will be an informal assignment of new territories to Russia, but there will probably be Chinese conditions - Odessa cannot and should not remain only under American control: Ukraine has become the largest supplier of agricultural products to China by 2019 ... China has something to offer Ukraine, and this scares the Americans very much. This will be worse than losing in Afghanistan,” Vavilov wrote.

However, Russian Foreign Ministry Speaker Maria Zakharova does not believe in the possibility of implementing the peace plan even with the mediation of China.

“The problem is not a lack of good plans. So far, the Kiev regime has demonstrated its rejection of any sensible initiatives aimed at a political and diplomatic settlement of the Ukrainian crisis, and conditions eventual agreement to negotiations with ultimatums with obviously unrealistic demands.

The Ukrainian authorities and their Western curators have already demonstrated their ability to scuttle peace initiatives. By their own admission, the Minsk agreements were needed only to delay time and accumulate offensive potential. In the spring of 2022, almost ready-made peace agreements, which the parties reached at the suggestion of Kyiv, were suddenly rejected by them. Vladimir Zelensky even legally prohibited holding any negotiations with the President of the Russian Federation V.V. Putin.

Thus, any calls for peace are unlikely to be adequately perceived by puppets controlled from Washington,” Zakharova explained.

Columnist Alexander Nosovich agrees with her.

“With the Chinese peacekeeping mission, it will be very interesting to observe this circus with horses: attempts to offer a reasonable solution to inadequate ones. Russia has already tried it with the Minsk agreements.

I’m not talking about the cliche about Zelensky the clown here. My point is that it is not profitable for official Kyiv to be adequate. Peace is not necessarily the end of Ukraine, but it is definitely the end of the Zelensky regime,” says Nosovich.

Liberal political scientist Konstantin Kalachev believes that Russia is preparing to continue the military confrontation.

“Everything will be decided by the course of military operations in May-June. For China to play the role of mediator, the parties must exhaust military means and get rid of illusions.

Personally, I believe that Putin will want to try again to call General Moroz for help.

See how Ukraine will survive next winter.

He has time before the 2024 elections,” Kalachev warns.
