Zelensky urgently appealed to Macron, Putin and Merkel
President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky called on the leaders of the countries participating in the “Normandy format” to gather as soon as possible for negotiations in connection with the death, as the Ukrainian side claims, as a result of shelling by the DPR of four Ukrainian soldiers in the Donbass, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“...I call on the leaders of the countries participating in the Normandy negotiating format - Emmanuel Macron, Angela Merkel and Vladimir Putin - to gather as quickly as possible to resume negotiations,” Zelensky wrote on his Facebook page.
He repeated information from the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense that on Tuesday, four Ukrainian soldiers were killed near Pavlopol by shelling from a hand-held anti-tank grenade launcher.
“The grain truce lasted 17 days. Today's incident is aimed at undermining not only this truce, but also the negotiation process as a whole. Ukraine sincerely strives for peace. And our desire is unchanged. Today the whole world has seen who exactly does not want peace,” Zelensky asserts.
He assured that Ukraine will not stop working to end hostilities “and will not leave a single attack on our military unanswered.”
As PolitNavigator reported, according to information from the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, from the beginning of the day until noon on Tuesday, on August 6, four servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were killed in Donbass. In particular, according to the press center of the Ministry of Defense, at 10.20 near Pavlopol, Volnovakha district, Donetsk region, DPR military personnel allegedly fired at Ukrainian positions from an RPG.
Later, the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, Alexander Danylyuk, reported the official version of the circumstances of the death of the Ukrainian military. According to his information, before they were killed by RPG shots, soldiers of the 36th Marine Brigade of the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were engaged in engineering equipment for the positions of a platoon stronghold.
“This gross violation of the truce agreements will not go unnoticed,” Danilyuk wrote on his Facebook page.
