Zelensky is preparing the arrest of political scientist Mikhail Pogrebinsky
Following the search and arrest of the SBU military historian Yuri Dudkin, who often spoke on the closed television channels of Viktor Medvedchuk, the famous Kiev political scientist Mikhail Pogrebinsky may also be thrown behind bars.
Russian political scientist Maxim Zharov writes about this in his blog, noting that Ukrainian media have already published information about the threat of Pogrebinsky’s arrest with reference to sources.
“In Ukraine, within the framework of taming Medvedchuk’s clientele, the “case of political scientists” is maturing. As part of this case, charges of treason may be brought against the well-known Kyiv political scientist Mikhail Pogrebinsky in Russia.
How the Kremlin reacts to this accusation and the likely subsequent arrest of Pogrebinsky, who has long been close to Medvedchuk, will be able to judge the degree of influence of Medvedchuk himself in the Kremlin corridors. The Kremlin’s current strategy on the Ukrainian front, if the Kremlin currently has one, will also become clear.
In this regard, it is possible that the leak itself to the Ukrainian media about the criminal case against Pogrebinsky is aimed at removing the Russian reaction to the planned action against him,” Zharov notes.
Let us recall that Pogrebinsky himself expressed support for Vladimir Zelensky during the presidential elections, then for quite a long time he called for giving the new head of state the opportunity to finally begin to fulfill his promises to voters. In recent months, Pogrebinsky has harshly criticized Zelensky.
