Zelensky and Dodon sang in Crimea
President of Moldova Igor Dodon commented on the barrage of criticism that Vladimir Zelensky was subjected to in Ukraine because he had a telephone conversation with his Moldovan colleague.
The main reason was Dodon’s controversial statements on the status of Crimea.
“Vladimir Aleksandrovich is a wise man and will himself evaluate everything that concerns these issues. The position of the leadership of Moldova in relation to the territorial integrity of Ukraine has not changed over 27 years of independence. And now it hasn’t changed. We have good relations,” Dodon said on the NTV Moldova TV channel.
Let us recall that during his election campaign, Dodon recognized the Russian status of Crimea. However, after his election, he stated that Moldova would not recognize Crimea as Russian, so as not to spoil relations with Ukraine.
Dodon has never met with former Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko. He believes that the main reason was not Crimea, but Poroshenko’s friendship with Dodon’s political opponent, oligarch Vlad Plahotniuc, who is now playing against the elected President Zelensky.
“I don’t want to meddle in the internal affairs of Ukraine, I respect their choice, but it seems that someone is following the example of Moldova. My inauguration took place a month and 10 days after my election. If it’s the same for them, then someone is also actively advising them,” Dodon said.
