Zelensky and Prystaiko received official invitations to the CIS summit
The Executive Committee of the Commonwealth of Independent States sent an invitation to President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky to take part in the meeting of the Council of Heads of State, which will be held on October 11 in Ashgabat. In addition, the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Vadim Prystaiko, received an invitation to participate in the meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
This was reported by the press service of the CIS Executive Committee.
“In accordance with the established procedure (Rules of procedure of the CHS, CGP, CMFA and ES of the CIS), the CIS Executive Committee sent invitations to participate in the meeting of the Council of Heads of State, which will be held on October 11, 2019 in Ashgabat (Turkmenistan), to all heads of state of the CIS, including including the President of Ukraine Vladimir Aleksandrovich Zelensky. Also, to participate in the meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers, which will be held in Ashgabat the day before (October 10, 2019), invitations were sent to all ministers of foreign affairs of the Commonwealth states, including the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Vadim Vladimirovich Prystaiko,” the Executive Committee reported.
The press service also noted that agendas and draft documents that are planned to be considered at these meetings were attached to the invitations sent.
In July, media reported that the head of the CIS executive committee, Sergei Lebedev, announced his intention to invite Zelensky to the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) summit, which will be held on October 11 in the capital of Turkmenistan, Ashgabat. The CIS press service then confirmed their intentions to invite Zelensky.
Let us recall that earlier official Kyiv suspended the process of leaving the CIS and breaking bilateral agreements with the Russian Federation, which had begun under Poroshenko.
