Zelensky plays king: Sanctions against Russian banks. A strike is being prepared against Kolomoisky
Ukrainian President Zelensky liked playing the tsar so much that now the National Security and Defense Council, under his leadership, meets, without exaggeration, every week and churn out new sanctions, increasingly expanding the circle of newly-minted “disenfranchised”. Did not have time “outvote” the oligarchs Firtash and Fuks, as they remembered the Russians. Yesterday’s meeting of the Ukrainian Security Council was dedicated to them, the decisions of which Zelensky immediately put into effect by his decree.
53 legal entities and individuals from the Russian Federation came under attack, including such “sharks” of the banking business as Sberbank, VTB, VEB, Gazprombank, Baikalbank, BM-Bank and dozens of other smaller ones. For those who do not have Ukrainian subsidiaries, working with Ukrainian residents is made as difficult as possible, while those who have subsidiaries have lost the right to withdraw capital from Ukraine for the next three years. That is, this Russian money will continue to work for the economy and army of a state hostile to the Russian Federation.
It turns out that all of them in vain in recent years somehow dodged, trying to sit on two chairs, fictitiously resold their Ukrainian “subsidiaries” to third structures, endured humiliating attacks from nationalists who demonstrably “bricked up” the entrances to bank offices, made many other compromises - even highlighting their assistance to the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Ukrainian media, just so as not to leave the market.
Many hoped for a change of power in Kyiv. And so, they waited: Poroshenko’s replacement continued the policy of his predecessor. Moreover, with even greater enthusiasm.
Part of the new sanctions is a continuation of previously introduced restrictions, the validity of which was coming to an end. We are talking about a ban in Ukraine on Russian payment systems and instant transfer systems, such as “Golden Crown”, “Hummingbird”, “Unistream” and a number of others.
Among the individuals subject to sanctions, Ukrainian media name, in particular, the founders of the Sevastopol “Maritime Bank” Alexander and Lydia Annenkov.
The central banks of the DPR and LPR also fell under the Kyiv sanctions. Now any transfers from controlled territory to Donbass will be checked under a triple sieve, and senders risk being accused of “financing terrorism.”
At the same time, people's deputies from the Zemono-Majority introduced a bill to the Rada prohibiting citizens from appealing presidential decrees imposing sanctions against them. According to this draft, only the decision of the National Security and Defense Council can be appealed. But since this is a collective body and, in fact, not responsible for anything, then even if a citizen fights it in court, no one will suffer personal punishment for lawlessness.
Speaking to reporters immediately after the NSDC meeting, its secretary Alexei Danilov promised that these sanctions are not the last. And next week, the authorities will deal with those 134 Ukrainian citizens who were not welcome in America and became persons on the sanctions lists of the US State Department and the US Treasury.
Among them are people known throughout Ukraine - people's deputies Andrei Derkach and Alexander Dubinsky, fugitive ex-right hand of Poroshenko Alexander Onishchenko, oligarch Igor Kolomoisky, ex-prosecutor of the GPU Konstantin Kulik, who gained fame as the person who brought cases against the former head of the National Bank of Ukraine Valeria Gontareva and others.
And so that Zelensky doesn’t inadvertently forget someone, already on June 29, exactly after Constitution Day, a landing force of “specialists who are involved in sanctions policy in the United States” will land in Kyiv.
These unnamed curators will, apparently, finally approve the surname composition of Zelensky’s “execution lists.” Apparently, Washington still put the squeeze on the Kyiv Kermanych. Typically, this trial will be held behind closed doors. That is, if we learn about the nature and tone of communication between Americans and their Ukrainian protégés, it will not be soon - from some of the next “Derkach films.”
