Zelensky wants to throw the people a bone by imprisoning Poroshenko
The new President of Ukraine, Vladimir Zelensky, wants to launch a criminal case against his predecessor Petro Poroshenko.
This was stated in an interview with Komsomolskaya Pravda by the director of the CIS countries department at the Institute of Political Studies, Aleksey Bychkov, according to whom the current criminal case against Poroshenko is not accidental.
“All this was prepared long before the inauguration, but before she could not be put into action. Legally issued. Mr. Kolomoisky is not the kind of person who forgives slaps in the face - and he, of course, did not forgive Poroshenko anything. If overseas partners do not intervene, the matter will progress further,” the political scientist predicts.
He believes that Poroshenko may be followed by a number of figures who have so tainted themselves under Poroshenko that they will neither be able to hide nor go over to Zelensky’s side.
“Zelensky came on this wave. And when he gets a majority in the Verkhovna Rada or at least his own coalition, he will find himself within the framework into which he has driven himself. This is the framework of a “popularly elected president.” And he will have to use the trick of fighting against corrupt officials, in general against “rotten elites,” as long as it is possible - but hardly for long... The main message of this case against Poroshenko is not even directed to the deputies - to the people who voted for the new leader. Such a bone had to be thrown,” Bychkov is convinced.
As PolitNavigator reported, the State Bureau of Investigation opened a criminal case against Poroshenko for attempting to overthrow the constitutional order.
