Zelensky “dumped” a Ukrainian woman who refused to fly out of China without a dog
Ukrainian Anastasia Zinchenko, who was denied evacuation from Wuhan, China, unless she refused to take her dog with her, is still waiting for the promised help from the country's authorities. After the President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky personally called her and promised to help, two weeks passed, but no one contacted the Ukrainian woman. Zinchenko stated this on her blog, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“On March 1, a ban on the import of animals into Ukraine from China was officially introduced. It turns out interesting, right? 2 weeks after the president called me and promised to help, to take me and my dog, two weeks later Ukraine put a ban on it. The reason for which is a case in Hong Kong, a dog suspected of having coronavirus. And for some reason, only Ukraine has imposed such a ban.
No one contacted me, they didn’t call me for a week, the story just became loud and then went out. We haven't heard anything about evacuation or what we should do next. Ukraine has again delayed the evacuation to the point where new problems are on the agenda.
If everything had been done during the first week, when I asked for help and was promised it, everything would have been forgotten and I would soon be home. I have absolutely no news now about what will happen next. How long will the quarantine last in China, and how will I get home? There are options, but these are all just theories. This may last about another month (at best).
Misha and I have been quarantined at home since January 20th. Since February 19, the day of the evacuation of Ukrainians, I have been at home and cannot go outside. There are no problems with food now. There is a problem with drinking water, I will try to solve it in the next few days, because it has run out, but the security at the house could not help me with this and did not allow me to leave either.
You know what else I would like to add. It’s not my fault that one of the only people who were evacuated from Wuhan refused to fly without her dog, refused to leave her, and brought this problem to public attention. And even with such a number of problems, I will not leave her, and I know that I will be supported by my family, my close people and those who also have pets and are aware that they are responsible for them, in the first place turn, as if for your family member,” Zinchenko wrote.
According to political scientist Vladimir Kornilov, the story with Zinchenko and the president’s personal commitment says a lot about the president of Ukraine.
“Remember the high-profile story with Zelensky’s call to the girl who refused to abandon her dog in China? Remember how he promised her that he would personally resolve the issue of their evacuation? So since then no one has contacted her. An illustrative story that says a lot about Zelensky,” the expert noted.
