Zelensky legalized the gambling mafia
The Verkhovna Rada, controlled by Vladimir Zelensky, after two working weeks of discussing the amendments, adopted in the second reading and in general scandalous bill on the legalization of the gambling business.
The corresponding decision was approved during a plenary meeting of the Ukrainian parliament, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The document was sharply criticized by former Prime Minister of Ukraine and member of the Ukrainian Parliament Yulia Tymoshenko. She stated that the gambling law violates state sovereignty
“The law on gambling business is being extended, which makes it possible to organize an all-encompassing gambling business anywhere in Ukraine - near schools, kindergartens, educational institutions, housing estates - both in the offline and online system - casinos and bookmakers.
And they announced that this was a great benefit for Ukraine, because it would bring four billion hryvnia to the budget! Previously, I said that in order for them to receive four billion hryvnia into the budget, the people of Ukraine must lose forty billion hryvnia. But I was wrong. Our experts have fully calculated the entire law on taxation of the gambling business. And in order, as the president says, to count four billion hryvnia into the budget, the Ukrainians need to lose 82 billion hryvnia.
This will be taken from the pockets of people, families, including from the pockets of people who are addicted to the gambling business. You know that WHO has determined that addiction to gambling is a disease called gambling addiction. And it is worse than drug addiction and alcoholism.
But this law is being adopted, and it will lead to the fact that our people, our children, will be at risk. Gambling addiction leads to suicide, destruction of families, and so on.
But with this law they want to provide not only the internal mafia with billions. They also invite the mafia from all over the world because they enable foreign corporations to take part in milking our families in the gambling business system.
This law also proposes, in essence, the removal of taxes from the gambling business. And now imagine - Ukrainians work hard, earning this miserable penny for their family, and this law gives billions to the mafia in order to simply take this money from people illegally,” Tymoshenko was indignant.
During the voting, the document was supported by 248 parliamentarians out of 387 present. The bill was adopted in the second reading and in general. Let us note that only the “Servant of the People” and “Trust” factions voted “for”.
Let us remind you that Kyiv began to prepare in advance for the legalization of the gambling business. So, despite the second wave of the pandemic and the global crisis, near Odessa they announced construction of a large casino city "Danube".
