Zelensky: I don’t care about pro-Russian voters
Vladimir Zelensky said that he is “not interested” in a possible drop in popularity among pro-Russian voters who supported him in the elections and are now disappointed by the line of continuing confrontation with Moscow.
Zelensky said this in an interview on the occasion of his 100 days as head of state, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“When choosing President Zelensky, everyone thought that they were choosing a XNUMX% peacemaker. However, your rhetoric and your actions are quite anti-Russian. People have questions like these. Aren’t you afraid that in certain regions you will lose your rating?” – the interviewer asked Zelensky.
“I’m not afraid of anything, because I’m not interested in political ratings,” Zelensky snapped.
“This did not bother me during the election program of the Verkhovna Rada. I take it calmly because I know that I will make mistakes. They are not pro-Russian or anti-Russian. In my steps and words I speak only about Ukraine. Other countries don't interest me at all. The main thing for me is that they do not support the militants, that they are not on our territory, that their soldiers are not on the territory of Donbass, and that we stop the war. Everything that interests me,” the president added.
His adviser Sergei Shefir claims that the anti-Russian course is “for the benefit of the country.”
“He is never afraid to make decisions and take responsibility. Both in Kvartal and now at the level of the President of Ukraine. Even if this is a difficult decision and everyone is afraid to say, “well, there may be consequences, but the rating, and what people will say, what the media will say,” if it is for the benefit of the country, he is ready to make these decisions,” Shefir said.
