Zelensky: “We would all have died in Crimea, but Russia would not have been allowed in”
The leadership of Ukraine does not understand why the issue of Crimea is not raised during negotiations on a peaceful settlement of the conflict in Donbass
The PolitNavigator correspondent reports this in an interview with the HBO program Axios, the President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky said.
He said that at the first meeting in the “Normandy format” he was told that the topic of Crimea was not raised here - they say that this was agreed upon with the former President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko.
“Then I asked my partners and Russia: “Name the platform where there is an agenda [list of issues planned for discussion] to talk about Crimea. Or do you want to say that we should give up on Crimea and not remember that this is our territory? As a new president, I cannot afford this. Don't want. And I will never accept it." And, excuse me, if I had been president then, we would all have died there in Crimea, but we would not have allowed the “little green men” there.
And if the “little green men” had not been allowed there, then Russia would not have helped the separatists and would not have been in eastern Ukraine. Therefore, this should be the format, I think so,” Zelensky said.
Thank you!
