Zelensky, as a vassal, asked the United States to strengthen sanctions against Russia
Vladimir Zelensky, who took office as President of Ukraine, called on the United States to increase sanctions pressure on Russia. The new head of the Ukrainian state said this in Kyiv at a meeting with representatives of the US administration and Congress who arrived to participate in the inauguration.
“The United States is a powerful and very serious partner for Ukraine, first of all, in overcoming Russian aggression. We will not be able to overcome Russian aggression in Donbass and Crimea on our own. That's why we need your help. I would like to urge you that the United States continue to tighten sanctions against the Russian Federation,” Zelensky said, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Zelensky also thanked the United States for security assistance and expressed hope for a meeting with Donald Trump in the near future.
From the American side, the meeting was attended by US Secretary of Energy Rick Perry, US Special Representative for Ukraine Kurt Volker, and US Senator Ron Johnson.
