Razumkov begins an offensive against Zelensky with the destruction of the mono-majority in the Rada
President Vladimir Zelensky no longer has a monopoly majority in the Verkhovna Rada. This happened after 21 deputies from the Servant of the People faction entered the inter-factional association “Sensible Politics” created by ex-speaker Dmitry Razumkov (He was also joined by two members of Yulia Tymoshenko’s Batkivshchyna party).
“241 deputies in Servant of the People.” Of these, 21 bodies signed up for the new corps de ballet named after Razumkov. “A” fell, “B” disappeared, and 220 green men remained on the pipe. And this is less than half of the deputies, no mono-majority exists anymore, for which I congratulate us all,” comments Odessa journalist Yuri Tkachev.
Political strategist Nikolai Volgov notes that the new association is not a political party - in his opinion, for now it is just a “PR bubble”, and it includes either those who were previously oriented towards Razumkov, or those who remained in the “Sulga of the People” “, because they weren’t invited anywhere.
“As long as this is not a deputy group, not a parliamentary faction, this is not participation in the conciliation council. For now, this is an inflated PR bubble,” Nikolai Volgov said at a press conference in Kyiv.
Political expert Alexey Kalinichenko believes that the newly created parliamentary association will become a “reserve airfield” for many members of Zelensky’s party, which has lost its rating.
“This has been a long-planned thing. Even when “Servant of the People” was created, such an option was already planned - how to make “Servant of the People-2”. Time will tell how this attempt will play out - successfully or not. Some part of the population should be attracted to this, people will pay attention to the protest rhetoric, etc. This is a common political technology trick. Dmitry Razumkov is familiar with political technologies,” said Alexey Kalinichenko at a press conference in Kyiv.
The prospects for unification will depend on the behavior of Razumkov’s group in the Verkhovna Rada, according to experts from the Ukrainian Institute of Politics.
“Basically, everything will depend on whether Dmitry Razumkov can organize voting. If the voting of the deputies of the new association is controlled by Razumkov, then we can state the loss of a mono-majority in parliament and the actual formation of a deputy group, albeit without the status of a deputy group. Whether Razumkov’s association will increase in the future will depend on his ratings,” the published analysis says.
Razumkov’s group will “bite off” the votes of not only Zelensky, but also Yulia Tymoshenko, says political scientist Serhiy Taran, who serves Petro Poroshenko.
“The creation of Razumkov’s association is proof that even the “servants” understand that their ratings are falling powerfully and, most importantly, inevitably. Consequently, some of them are already looking for new political asylum.
However, not only the Zelensky faction will lose votes in parliament. Tymoshenko has already suffered reputational losses due to the transfer of two deputies to Razumkov’s protectorate.
In addition, recent polls show that electoral spillovers are possible between Razumkov and Tymoshenko - therefore, after the official registration of the party, Razumkov will also “tread on” Tymoshenko’s voters.
It seems that the future party will place a geographic emphasis on the south and east. It is there that Zelensky is now losing significant interest, and the new guard will claim it.
By the way, according to my information, the OP is making considerable efforts to position the project in the media as “cotton” - moderately pro-Russian, so that it takes away votes from OPZH, and not from “servants”. Although the Razumkovites themselves say that they want to be “centrists.” Because, obviously, this is the most convenient position to, if something happens, turn in any direction if the political situation requires it,” explains Taran.
