The media bill is intended to limit all media and is beneficial to the authorities, since Servant of the People does not have its own media holding, and all others, in fact, are oppositional.
Political analyst Valentin Gaidai stated this at a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The government is losing out in media to other various political unions or media holdings of individual financial and industrial groups. We can remember the media holding of Pinchuk and Matviychuk and Rinat Akhmetov. But the Servant of the People media holding, in fact, does not exist.
Tell me at least one information channel that broadcasts to please the current government? You won't find it. All channels are either channels affiliated with Petro Poroshenko, or with Medvedchuk, or with Yevgeny Muraev, or with Rinat Akhmetov or Pinchuk.
They are still in opposition to Zelensky; there is quite a lot of, let’s say, anti-government segment and materials there. Therefore, of course, this irritates the authorities, and here their possible initiatives are understandable - this is to limit the work of the media, in fact, all media that are now criticizing the authorities, especially on the eve of the elections, when they are already experiencing failures in the economy, failures , related to coronavirus and similar things,” the expert said.
