“Zelensky is not a Russophobe, he’s just sitting in ambush” - Kommersant journalist
During his performances at IForum Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky spoke exclusively in Russian, which indicates a change in the format of Ukrainian politics.
Maxim Yusin, a journalist for the Russian publication Kommersant, said this on Channel One, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I took Zelensky’s entire speech with optimism, because I listened not to what he said, but to how he said it. His entire speech was in Russian, the entire event was emphatically in Russian - both the jokes, the host’s remarks, and the entire speech of the President of Ukraine, despite the fact that this monstrous “language” law was recently adopted. And it is the popularly elected president of Ukraine who challenges the forces that pushed through this law. For me, this is what is important now – that the style of the Ukrainian political elite is changing, radically changing compared to what it was during the time of Poroshenko.
Everything else is a pre-election game. Zelensky is doing absolutely the right thing in not getting involved in the Russian issue. He needs to sit in ambush for another two months, not expose himself to the electorate of the central and western regions where he won, so that he will not be accused of being a potential agent of Russia,” Yusin noted.
Also, according to the chairman of the board of the Civil Society Development Foundation, Konstantin Kostin, Vladimir Zelensky is exclusively a project of the West, the purpose of which is to remove from power the Ukrainian oligarchs who have snickered beyond all measure.
“We must understand that President Zelensky is a political technology project not of the oligarchs, as has been said for many months, but a project of Western centers of influence who want to use him as a way to get rid of the oligarchic tools for governing Ukraine, which are becoming more and more expensive. It is obvious that half of every billion dollars spent on Ukraine immediately goes to no one knows where.
It is quite obvious that any agreements with Russia that were beneficial to the West, for example, the Minsk agreements, were sabotaged by the Ukrainian oligarchs in order to be able to build their game, on the one hand, showing complete loyalty to the West, on the other hand, blackmailing it and setting certain conditions.
Therefore, if in Berlin, Washington, Paris, they decide that such negotiations (between Russia and Ukraine - прим. ред.) should be, of course, Zelensky, unlike Poroshenko, will agree to them. And if there are Minsk Agreements 2.0, of course Zelensky will try to implement these agreements,” Kostin added.
